About us

At wonder Woods, whilst we realise Qualifications in childcare are essentials, our emphasis, is ALWAYS on the person. Ensuring we have the right people in the right role, enables us to create a nurturing environment for both our children and our team, enhancing well-being within our setting, and ensuring we continually offer the care we feel every child deserves

Carly Uttridge

Growing up I spent much of my time on my grandparent's farm, helping harvest potatoes and sugar beet. I loved nothing more than getting my hands dirty and driving in the tractors alongside both of my parents. Some of my fondest and dearest memories have been created in the outdoors, as both a child and an adult.

I am never happier than when I am out, in the fresh air, holding the hands of our children George and Mabel. The natural world is a space we all feel free and comfortable in. Free to explore, express ourselves, take risks, create memories, friendships and learn life-long lessons.

Starting Wonder Woods Forest School is an extension of who I am. Learning the Forest school ethos has altered parts of my soul and had such a positive impact on our family life. I am passionate about children's well-being and the positive impact child-led, play based practise has. I believe nurturing children's unique strengths and interests, creates an amazing connection, and encourages children to embrace their creative spirit and expression.

I have had the privilege of being involved in many childcare settings over the last 20 years, including, co-owning of a crèche, working in nurseries, paediatric hospital units in London and the West Midlands, children's centres, private nannying and most recently primary schools. My love of working alongside children has never faded. For me it is simple, Wonder Woods is a doorway to create lasting memories with the children I meet, and creating a re-connection with self, within in nature.

I am so excited for the next step in this journey, alongside my incredible team.

Early Years Lead:

I am an experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant where I work closely with children with varying special needs, students with EAL and children from diverse backgrounds. I have key experience of working with Nursery age children. This is the area of childcare I am most passionate about. I enjoy the responsibility of really getting to know children with a range of learning capabilities and believe in allowing children to flourish by placing trust in them and empowering them to take charge of their own development.

I am a firm believer in child led development and believe the forest school environment is crucial in the early development of a child. The natural world around us provides so many life lessons for children and as a family we spend a vast amount of our spare time taking exploring nature together. Our oldest son attended forest school before he joined infant school and our youngest is currently enjoying his time at forest school now too.

Our interest and passion for the outdoors, led us to Wonder Woods, where we have loved, being involved in the wonderful woodland community. I am currently co- leading the After School clubs, as I put my passions into practice.

I am very much looking forward to fully embracing the forest school ethos and spending many hours exploring the beautiful estate alongside our children.

Sharon Bryson

Early Years practitioner

Hi my name is Sharon I am a qualified teaching assistant and forest school practitioner. I have spent many years working alongside others, in a variety of educational settings. I was lucky enough to be part of Solihull councils initiative to bring forest school into the borough and get more children outside.
More recently I have been attending Newman university studying counselling and psychotherapy this supports me to be reflective in my practice, more importantly offering children a more holistic approach.

I am passionate about the outdoors, and enabling child led exploration and experiences. facilitating children, to understand themselves at their own pace in their own way without the distraction of an adults agenda.
I truly believe that in the rushing of today's society we don't give children the time to just be in the moment.

An adults role should be supporting engaging and trusting our young people to make choices to be there if they fall but more importantly to celebrate every victory whatever that victory may look like .

I am so happy to be part of the wonder woods team let's see how this new adventure unfolds.
